A collision involving three vehicles – a pick-up truck, a tractor, and a lorry – in Staffordshire resulted in the death of the pick-up truck driver. The man, aged in his 60s, was pronounced deceased at the site of the incident on Watling Street in Weeford, Lichfield, which occurred around 16:45 GMT on Thursday. Additionally, a woman sustained minor injuries after being struck by debris from the crash and was transported to Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield for treatment. The individuals operating the other vehicles, specifically a blue Valtra tractor and a yellow articulated Volvo lorry, did not suffer injuries. According to the West Midlands Ambulance Service, the male driver of the lorry underwent assessment at the scene and was subsequently discharged, while the tractor driver declined assessment. A spokesperson indicated that the pick-up truck driver was discovered in a critical state, with bystanders, including the fire service, providing basic life support. The spokesperson further stated: “Ambulance staff quickly began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite everyone’s best efforts, it became apparent nothing could be done to save him.” Staffordshire Police reported that specialist officers were providing support to the family of the Ford Ranger driver.
