Gareth Taylor, the manager of Manchester City, has stated that Therese Sjogran, the club’s newly appointed women’s director of football, is expected to “really help” them during the January transfer period. Sjogran, a former Sweden international, will be responsible for recruitment, in addition to the development of first-team coaches and players at the Women’s Super League club. Sjogran is set to commence her position on 1 December, having previously served for a decade as the sporting director at FC Rosengard, the Swedish champions. Taylor commented, “I’m looking forward to working with Therese. We have had conversations already, discussing the positive results Rosengard had this season,” He added, “We need someone with the experience she has having been a player and having been in the director’s role for a number of years. “That’s what we need. The January window is around the corner. Therese is going to really help us in that space.” Her tenure at Rosengard has provided Sjogran with extensive knowledge of the Swedish market, which has consistently served as a source of talent for Women’s Super League clubs in recent times. When questioned about the possibility of Sjogran assisting the club in acquiring Swedish talent, Taylor responded: “Maybe, who knows? She has real strength in that area and knows the league really well. “We have had discussions already around certain players and of course we have a plan going into that January window.”
