Plans have been put forward for the construction of nine new residences in Leicestershire, which would offer views of the Stoney Cove diving centre. An outline planning application has been submitted for nine houses, described as “of varying sizes,” to be situated in Spring Gardens, Sapcote. According to documents presented to planners at Blaby District Council, an existing house and farm structures on the site are designated for demolition to accommodate the new development. The proposals also indicate that the access road leading to the site from Grace Road will undergo widening. The Local Democracy Reporting Service reported that the property slated for demolition comprises two red brick semi-detached houses, originally constructed between 1910 and the 1920s, which have since been merged into a single dwelling. Upon clearance, the site would face north-west towards the Stoney Cove dive and swim centre. This facility is located at a 19th-century quarry site between Sapcote and Stoney Stanton, which became flooded following its closure in the 1950s. Four objections to the plans have been lodged, with their specific details having been redacted by the district council. A determination regarding the application is anticipated by January 21.
