A general practitioner practice located in Warwickshire has received the title of community care provider of the year. St Wulfstan Surgery, situated in Southam, was characterized by the judging panel at the Health Service Journal’s (HSJ) annual awards as “one of the most outstanding practices in the country”. The judges commended the surgery, which serves approximately 11,000 registered patients, for “maintaining the quality, outcomes and experience at the highest levels” even as its patient numbers had “boomed”. Dr. Faris Al-Ramadani, a GP partner at the practice, expressed that they felt honored by the win and dedicated significant effort to their patients. He stated, “As a surgery we have always worked extremely hard to deliver the best possible care to our patients, and have been keen to continue to develop and innovate our service to better help patients.” He added, “We feel privileged to support our community and this HSJ award is a fantastic recognition of this service, and the brilliant relationship developed between our practice, staff and patients.” Following the practice’s shortlisting in September, Dr. Al-Ramadani had mentioned that the facility had focused on reducing waiting periods by conducting operations outside standard hours and educating reception personnel to guide patients to suitable care options. The HSJ reported that a total of 1,351 submissions were received across 26 distinct categories for the current year’s awards, leading to 235 organizations, projects, and individuals being selected as finalists. Alastair McLellan, editor of HSJ, extended congratulations to the surgery, noting the presence of an “outstanding calibre of applicants” in this year’s competition.
