Manager Sonia Bompastor has declared that Chelsea’s upcoming fixture against Women’s Super League title contenders Manchester City is “not decisive.” Last season, Manchester City narrowly missed out on the title, losing by goal difference after former Chelsea boss Emma Hayes guided the Blues to their fifth consecutive league trophy. Currently, only a single point separates the two teams, though Manchester City, who are the present leaders, have played an additional game. Bompastor reiterated her stance, stating, “I don’t think this game will be decisive. This league is so competitive and all of the games are really difficult.” She acknowledged the significance of the fixture, adding, “Of course it will be an important game – but not decisive. We are heading into the game with a lot of confidence, even if Manchester City have a good squad. We are also in a good dynamic and we have a lot of quality and talent. We feel ready.” Further remarks from Bompastor’s news conference included her prediction that the encounter at Stamford Bridge would be a “really fun match” for supporters, featuring two high-performing teams currently in strong form. When questioned about Manchester City’s attacking pair, Lauren Hemp and Khadija Shaw, who lead the individual goalscoring and assists rankings, Bompastor commented that “Both teams have a lot of strengths” in their offensive play. Bompastor expressed her conviction that her team is progressively improving, demonstrating greater consistency now compared to a month prior. Chelsea is “mentally ready” for Manchester City to dominate possession, with Bompastor confirming that they “have a plan.” She further elaborated, “We know exactly how we can cause them some trouble on that part.” Post navigation Manchester City Supporters Propose Strategies for Pep Guardiola Amid Recent Performance Challenges England’s Leading T20 Run-Scorer Danni Wyatt-Hodge Transfers to Surrey
