Following objections from boat owners, trade associations, and yacht clubs, proposed adjustments to leisure marina charges have undergone re-evaluation. The feedback specifically pointed out problems with a suggested 3% rise for 2025, alongside mentions of more significant fee hikes for 2026 within the consultation papers. Consequently, the States’ Trading Supervisory Board has committed to proposing a “similarly modest” increase for 2026, aiming to ease worries regarding the long-term cost-effectiveness of moorings. In an official statement, the board declared, “The board has not yet directed on 2026 proposals, and the inclusion of these was, therefore, somewhat unhelpful in setting any expectations for 2026.” Furthermore, industry spokespersons conveyed their discontent regarding financial losses at Guernsey Airport and the fiscal standing of Guernsey Harbours, according to the board. The board stated, “The board noted this concern, and while it has sought to make a clear distinction in its previous communications, it will continue to try to provide greater clarity in future.”
