An individual has received a prison sentence for “brazenly” employing a fictitious name and address in an attempt to “get away with his crimes.” Cambridgeshire Police reported that Eimantas Zemeliauskas provided misleading information to law enforcement personnel and a magistrate’s court following his apprehension on suspicion of committing two distinct driving infractions. The 22-year-old, who lacked a permanent residence, was ultimately apprehended when he furnished his accurate personal information to police while reporting himself as the victim of an unconnected assault. At Cambridge Crown Court, Zemeliauskas admitted guilt to two charges of perverting the course of justice and was sentenced to two years in prison. Authorities stated their initial arrest of Zemeliauskas occurred on 24 December 2023, under suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He underwent questioning by officers in Peterborough, at which point he supplied incorrect information. After a period of four months, following an appearance before magistrates, he was re-arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle while disqualified. Law enforcement officials indicated they examined Zemeliauskas’ Facebook profile after his assault report, which verified his true identity. The false identity he used corresponded to the name of an acquaintance from an online platform. PC Courtney Mapes commented: “Zemeliauskas thought he was going to get away with his crimes.” She added: “He provided false details not only to police officers, but also the court, on multiple occasions, brazenly signing documents using a false name and address.” Mapes concluded: “His sentence shows how seriously attempts to thwart the legal process are taken.” Post navigation Car Thief Jailed for Manslaughter After Fatal Punch Man described as ‘trusted associate’ in drug supply operation jailed
