A police constable has been found guilty of committing sexual offences against teenage girls. PC Paul Hanson, from Nuneaton, was convicted on Friday for crimes perpetrated against three girls during the 2000s and early 2010s, prior to his recruitment as an officer, Warwickshire Police reported. The force stated that the 33-year-old, a response officer stationed in Bedworth, carried out these acts after befriending the young individuals in Nuneaton. Following a trial at Warwick Crown Court, a jury determined his guilt on six counts of sexual activity with a child and two counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity, a police spokesperson confirmed. Detective Superintendent Paul Thompson commented that Hanson’s conduct had brought shame upon the profession. Thompson further stated, “He exploited these young, vulnerable girls for his own sexual gratification and will now face the consequences of his actions.” Hanson, who had been suspended from his duties pending the case’s resolution, has been remanded in custody and is scheduled for sentencing on 23 January.
