Police reported that a shot was fired at the front door of a house situated in a Knowsley estate. The incident, which occurred in Round Hey, Stockbridge Village, around 20:00 GMT on Sunday, resulted in a visibly cracked glass panel in the door. Merseyside Police confirmed that no individuals were injured and that a cordon established around the scene was removed shortly after 09:00 on Monday. A nearby resident shared that his own property had been targeted by gunfire some years ago, telling the BBC: “It does make you feel unsafe.” The resident, who stated he was at home on Sunday evening but did not perceive any shots, elaborated: “About five or maybe six years ago we got shotgun pellets on our door, our house was fired at or got the residue of the shotgun pellets…” He added: “It does make you feel unsafe, but I’m ex-forces so I know how to look after myself.” The man, who chose not to disclose his name, indicated strike marks still visible on his wall and on a wooden bin gate. Merseyside Police indicated that the damage to the front door in the most recent event was believed to have been caused by a firearm discharge. Detective Chief Inspector Phil Atkinson stated: “Anyone who fires a weapon at a house risks causing very serious harm or worse to anyone inside…” He further asserted: “Merseyside Police will not tolerate such dangerous and reckless behaviour and we are committed to finding those responsible and bringing them to justice.” He appealed to anyone with information, CCTV, or doorbell camera footage that could assist the investigation to come forward.
