A Swindon resident has been handed a prison sentence of nearly four years for an assault involving a crowbar at a man’s residence. Matthew Brown, aged 37, residing at Ermin Street, Stratton St Margaret, received a custodial term of three years and 10 months. He admitted guilt to the charge of grievous bodily harm at Swindon Crown Court on Monday. Proceedings in court revealed that on May 9, Brown gained forceful entry into a property located on Sandgate, Swindon, and repeatedly struck his identified victim on the head with the metal implement, inflicting injuries to both the head and shoulder. Detective Constable James Pugh of Wiltshire Police characterized the incident as a “premeditated act of violence.” He stated: “Brown broke into the victim’s home, armed with a metal weapon, and launched a vicious and unprovoked attack upon him.” “Thankfully, the victim managed to escape the ordeal and prevent further harm to himself.” “The swift response of our officers, coupled with the invaluable assistance of members of the public, was instrumental in identifying and arresting Brown swiftly.” “We want to reassure the public that this was an isolated incident, targeted at a specific individual and there is no ongoing threat to the wider community.” Post navigation Man Jailed for Fracturing Friend’s Skull in Unprovoked Punch Justice Secretary Cautions Prison Capacity Shortage Possible Even with Expansion
