Farsley Celtic has announced its captain, Lewis Turner, is “conscious and talking” after he experienced a suspected cardiac arrest during an FA Trophy match against Gateshead. The club also stated it is providing support to Turner’s family. The incident occurred on Tuesday, 28 minutes into the game, when the 32-year-old collapsed on the field. Play was suspended, and both teams returned to their changing rooms while Turner received treatment on the pitch. Following resuscitation, he was transported to a hospital. The match was subsequently abandoned, with Gateshead holding a 1-0 lead. A statement released by Farsley Celtic conveyed, “Thanks to the superb professional work by the medical staff and paramedics Lewis was resuscitated and was taken to hospital.” The club further expressed, “It is with great relief and happiness that we can report that Lewis is conscious and talking.” Farsley Celtic also commented that the event “put life into context.” Turner previously played in non-league football for teams such as Chester and Harrogate Town, following a period with the Leeds United academy. His former club, Leeds, posted on X: “The thoughts of everyone at LUFC are with Lewis at this time and we’re all wishing him a speedy recovery.” Post navigation Newport County’s Upcoming Accounts Signal an End to Financial Losses West Ham Reportedly Leads Race for Evan Ferguson
