Carlisle United forward Charlie Wyke will be unavailable for the remainder of the current season following a severe ankle injury. Wyke has netted two goals in 14 matches for the club this season. The 31-year-old player suffered a fracture and dislocation to his left ankle, necessitating surgical intervention. This injury occurred on Saturday, a quarter of an hour after he entered the game as a second-half substitute during Carlisle’s 1-0 loss to Cheltenham Town. Manager Mike Williamson commented on the situation, stating, “It’s obviously disappointing news for Charlie and for all of us. He’s our captain and he’ll be missed, but we know how tough he is and we’re all right behind him. He’s got the complete support of everyone at the football club, and we’ll help him through this in whatever way we can.” Carlisle currently holds the 23rd position in the League Two standings. Saturday’s defeat marked their tenth loss in the league during the current season.
