Southend-on-Sea City Council has announced plans for the city’s inaugural New Year’s Eve seafront fireworks display. The council stated that the complimentary event will feature two separate displays, both to be launched from a barge situated east of Southend Pier on the evening of December 31. The initial display is scheduled for 18:00, intended for the enjoyment of young children, with a subsequent display planned following the customary midnight countdown. Matt Dent, the cabinet member responsible for culture, tourism, and business, commented that the occasion is expected to establish Southend as a “premier destination for residents and visitors alike.” He further stated, “The fireworks displays promise to be a great experience, and I encourage everyone to come along and help us ring in the New Year in spectacular fashion.” For updates on Essex news, follow BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram, and X.
