Residents have been instructed to stay away from the vicinity of an industrial estate located in North Lanarkshire due to a chemical leak. Emergency responders were dispatched to a business property on Cameron Street in Coatbridge after notifications concerning a potentially dangerous substance. The Northburn Industrial Estate, along with several adjacent thoroughfares such as Cromlet Drive and a section of Burnbank Street near Coltswood Road, has been sealed off. Authorities stated that nearby residences underwent evacuation as a precautionary measure. Subsequently, inhabitants have been directed to stay inside their homes and ensure their doors and windows are shut. Law enforcement officials have cautioned individuals to keep away from the location. No casualties have been reported. A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service stated: “At 12:14, operations control mobilised a number of resources including specialist hazmat units to a commercial premises on Cameron Street, Coatbridge, following reports of an incident involving potentially hazardous material.” “As a precaution, residents are asked to remain indoors and keep their windows and doors closed.” While the fire service has since departed, police personnel continue to be present at the site to ensure its security.
