A charitable organization is requesting public participation in its Christmas tree recycling efforts this year. St Barnabas Hospice, located in Lincoln, is inviting individuals to engage in their “tree-cycle” initiative, offering an environmentally sound method for tree disposal while simultaneously supporting the charity. Those who have purchased a real tree are able to register for a collection service, ensuring their tree can be recycled or replanted in the upcoming new year. Volunteers from the hospice will conduct tree pickups between January 7 and January 12, with a voluntary donation requested in return. Trees must be positioned in a visible spot outside the property. Any trees exceeding 6ft (20m) in height will need to be trimmed to facilitate their loading into the collection vehicle. Collected trees will be processed using chippers and repurposed for uses such as animal bedding, fertilisers, or mulch. Potted trees, conversely, will be replanted within the local community. Ness Wilson, who is overseeing this project, commented: “We want to say thank you to all our volunteers and for the support we’re receiving from local businesses and communities. “Donations to our tree-cycle fundraising initiative are crucial in supporting the provision of hospice care and services to 12,000 people across Lincolnshire every day.”
