Lewis Hamilton addressed employees, stating that “Mercedes has changed my life,” during his departure from the Formula 1 team. Hamilton’s tenure with Mercedes began in 2013, following his move from McLaren. During his time with the team, headquartered in Brackley and Brixworth, Northamptonshire, he achieved six of his seven championships. The 39-year-old driver also secured 84 victories out of his record 105 career wins while competing for the Silver Arrows. He is set to transfer to Ferrari for the 2025 season. Hamilton, who hails from Stevenage, Hertfordshire, expressed that he had “dreamed of one day being in Formula 1 and being a world champion.” Hamilton remarked: “Definitely back then it was me and my two parents. “I didn’t know there would be a huge amount of people that I’d get to work with who would be the ones to lift me up and take me on that journey.”” He conveyed that he would consistently wish them “the absolute best” and extended gratitude for their contributions to his career. Hamilton’s farewell activities included a visit to the team’s Brackley factory, participating in an end-of-season tour with his teammate George Russell and Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff. In his concluding season with the team, he secured two race victories, notably the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in July. He concluded the 2024 drivers’ championship in seventh position, one place behind Russell, who finished sixth.
