French football club Nantes has expressed “deep indignation” concerning alleged racist abuse directed at their Wales international player, Sorba Thomas, following a recent match defeat against Lens. Thomas has scored once in his 11 appearances for Nantes this season. The 25-year-old, who is on loan at Nantes from League One side Huddersfield Town, was introduced as a substitute in the 80th minute but was subsequently replaced before the game concluded. Nantes issued a statement, declaring: “FC Nantes expresses its deep indignation following the racist insults to which Sorba Thomas was subjected following the match against RC Lens on social networks.” The club further stated: “The club wishes to give its full and unwavering support to its player.” Huddersfield also denounced the abuse and offered their backing to Thomas. “We are angered to learn of racist abuse being directed towards Sorba Thomas and stand with both Sorba and FC Nantes in condemning this in the strongest possible terms,” the English club communicated in a statement. They added: “Discrimination of all forms has no place in society. Those responsible should feel the full consequence of their actions.” Post navigation Kieran McKenna’s Three-Year Mark at Ipswich Town Former Celtic Captain Paul Lambert Believes Club Can Secure Crucial Win Against RB Leipzig
