A 70-year-old man has died following a single-vehicle collision in the village of Douglas, situated in South Lanarkshire. The individual was operating a Ford Puma when it crashed on the A70 Ayr Road, close to the Covenanters Way junction, at approximately 15:00 on Sunday. Emergency services responded to the scene, but he was pronounced deceased there. Police Scotland stated that the road was shut for more than three hours to allow for investigative procedures. Road Policing Sgt Jim Dewar commented: “Our thoughts are with the family and the friends of the man who died at this difficult time.” Police are requesting that any individuals who were driving in the area at the time or who may possess dash-cam footage make contact.
