A 34-year-old individual has received an 18-year prison sentence for sexually assaulting a child and recording himself committing rape against a woman. Tabarik Hussain, residing in Bretton, Peterborough, recorded himself on two separate instances engaging in sexual activity with a woman who was unconscious and therefore incapable of providing consent. Hussain pleaded guilty to participating in sexual communications with a child; however, he contested charges of two counts of rape, three counts of voyeurism, two counts of assaulting a girl under 13 through touching, creating indecent photographs of a child, and harassment. His sentencing occurred on 6 December at Peterborough Crown Court, following his conviction on all charges across two distinct trials held in April and November at the identical court. The rape offenses came to light when Hussain was apprehended in 2023 for the sexual assault of a child. During the trial, it was disclosed that Hussain sent a text message to the child acknowledging her 12th birthday, which was subsequently followed by sexual messages—including images of his genitals—and he sexually assaulted her twice at her residence. The girl informed an adult, leading to Hussain’s arrest. Upon the seizure and analysis of his phone by law enforcement officers, the videos involving the woman were uncovered. Additionally, officers located 18 indecent images and videos of children on the device. Detective Constable Abbie Mcquaid, representing Cambridgeshire Constabulary, stated: “Several women and a young girl have faced the stress of giving evidence in court to ensure Hussain faced justice for a broad spectrum of sexual crimes.” She added: “Both the child victim of sexual assault and the victim of rape showed extreme resilience and bravery during these two trials and in the long wait beforehand.” Mcquaid further commented: “By not flinching after Hussain forced them to trial, despite the weight of evidence against him, they have ensured other women and girls will be kept safe from him for a long time.” Updates on Peterborough news can be accessed via BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram, and X.
