Participants are encouraged to display their moustaches while engaging in an event supporting men’s health. Approximately 1,000 individuals are anticipated to convene at Roundhay Park in Leeds this Sunday, with the aim of collecting funds for the Movember campaign. Entrants have the option to participate in a half-marathon, a 10k, or a 5k MoRun, alongside a Mini MoRun specifically designed for children. The Movember initiative promotes the cultivation of moustaches during November to heighten public awareness regarding men’s health concerns, such as mental health, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer. According to organisers, the event in Leeds has already accumulated over £4,500 for the charitable cause. Dave Krangel initiated MoRunning in 2009, establishing it to provide support for the Movember Foundation. He stated: “Leeds has always been one of our favourites.” He added: “There’s something in the air and the sense of community is fantastic.“ Krangel noted: “At the time we started it there wasn’t a lot for men’s health.” He continued: “It was a great opportunity to do something which we thought would make a real difference.“ Krangel emphasized: “What we do isn’t really about running the fastest, it’s about the Mo-community, and sharing the Mo-love.” Fancy dress with a moustache theme is encouraged, and a prize for the best dressed will be presented following the run. Mr Krangel mentioned: “We’ve got some little stick-on moustaches as well for anyone that wants to put one on.” He concluded: “Absolutely everyone can take part and support the cause, and also be part of something that helps them get fit and healthy” The half marathon is scheduled to commence at Roundhay Park at 09:30 GMT, with the 5k and 10k races beginning at 10:00 GMT, and the Mini MoRun following at 10:30 GMT. Approximately 16,000 individuals are anticipated to participate in MoRuns across 19 cities this weekend.
