Gary O’Neil was dismissed from his position on Sunday. This decision came as Wolves occupied the second-to-last spot in the league standings, having failed to secure any points in their last four matches, including a recent loss to Ipswich. Following this defeat, Wolves players were involved in confrontations with Ipswich staff and security personnel. Rayan Ait-Nouri received a red card in the tunnel after an altercation with Liam Delap, and Matheus Cunha may face a Football Association inquiry due to his involvement in an incident with Ipswich’s security. Commenting on the situation, former Premier League striker Clinton Morrison stated on the BBC Radio 5 Live Football Daily podcast, “It doesn’t help that the players are losing their heads.” He added, “It was Mario Lemina last week and now Rayan Ait-Nouri and Matheus Cunha losing it this week.” Morrison concluded that “The change probably comes at the right time.” Al-Shabab manager Vitor Pereira is reportedly the leading candidate to succeed O’Neil. Meanwhile, Wolves are scheduled to play Leicester City away on Sunday; Leicester City is currently positioned just two points clear of the relegation zone. Morrison further remarked, “The Wolves squad is good enough to get out of trouble so they have to recruit well.”
