Two men, both in their twenties, were taken into custody on suspicion of drug-related offenses after a woman’s death at a Belfast nightclub. Chloe Ferris, also in her 20s, passed away at the Lux nightclub, located in the city centre, during the early hours of Sunday. Emergency responders were dispatched to the venue following reports of two women losing consciousness. Ms Ferris was deceased when law enforcement personnel reached the scene. Subsequently, the two individuals were released on police bail. The second woman who became unconscious at the nightclub was transported to a hospital. Reports indicate that this woman has since been discharged from the hospital and is currently recuperating at her residence. A published death notice for Ms Ferris characterized her as a “beloved daughter” and a “much loved” sister, aunt, niece, and cousin. Declan, her father, declined an interview but conveyed to BBC News NI his gratitude to all who had extended support and contacted the family following her passing. Thomas Turley, a youth worker affiliated with R City, characterized Ms Ferris as a “great character” on Tuesday. She had been a member of the organization during her teenage years, and Mr Turley stated that she “brought a lot to the group”. “You could tell from the outset that she was a leader in and amongst the group and how much her peers looked up to her,” he informed BBC News NI. “She had great drive and enthusiasm about her and that was something that always shone through along with how bubbly she was and how fun she was to have about.” Mr Turley expressed that the group was grateful for Ms Ferris’s involvement in the program, adding that she left a lasting legacy with those individuals. “The outpouring on social media just shows how much of an impact Chloe made right across the community and everyone she came into contact with,” he commented.
