The A18 Mountain Road, a significant thoroughfare linking the Isle of Man’s capital to its northern region, has been shut down for ongoing surveying activities. This closure, affecting the stretch from Creg ny Baa to the Brandywell junctions, is scheduled to last until 15:30 GMT. These operations are integral to a road safety enhancement initiative, necessitating preliminary surveying before a month-long resurfacing project commences in the spring. The route is slated for another closure at 09:30 on Tuesday to allow for further work, with Wednesday designated as an alternative day should it be required. This closure represents the last of three two-day closures implemented in December, preceding the April resurfacing project. Earlier, a segment of the road, specifically from the Bungalow to Creg ny Baa, experienced a closure at 09:10 due to a single-vehicle road traffic collision. Nevertheless, the Isle of Man Constabulary reported that the incident resulted in minor injuries and the road had since been cleared.
