Adam Azim, who began his professional career in 2020, is scheduled to compete against former world champion Sergey Lipinets for the IBO light-welterweight title. This bout will take place on 1 February at the OVO Arena in Wembley. The British boxer maintains an undefeated record across 12 professional contests, securing nine victories by knockout. However, he is set to encounter a substantial increase in competition level against the fighter from Kazakhstan. Lipinets, aged 35, previously held the IBF championship and has sustained only three losses across 22 professional fights. The 22-year-old stated, “This is a chance for me to show that I belong at world level and that I’m ready to face the best,” He further added, “He is a former world champion. He has fought some of the biggest names out there. I have a lot of respect for him and what he’s achieved in the sport, but it’s my time now.” Lipinets’ latest victory occurred in May, a points decision over British fighter Robbie Davies Jr. Ben Shalom, Azim’s promoter, characterized the upcoming match as a “risky” decision for his boxer, whereas Lipinets commended the Slough native for agreeing to the contest. Lipinets, whose professional record includes losses to world champions Mikey Garcia and Jaron Ennis, commented, “I’m glad that Adam has accepted this fight,” He continued, “A lot of top fighters have refused to face me. I’ve never turned down a fight and this one is make or break for me. Adam is young and strong but he doesn’t have my experience. I’ve seen it all.” Post navigation Welsh Clubs Maintain Challenge Cup Hopes Ahead of Festive Derbies Melbourne Renegades Ascend to Top of WBBL Table, Nearing Final Qualification
