An officer from Essex Police, PC Mark Ling, aged 38, is facing charges related to child sexual offences. These charges include eight counts of sexual communications with a child, two counts of cyber flashing, and one count of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. The allegations stem from purported online interactions involving an adult and girls under the age of 16. Mr Ling, whose arrest occurred in September, was scheduled to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday. Ch Supt Scott Egerton issued a statement, saying: “Tackling violence against women and girls is an absolute priority for Essex Police and we take all allegations very seriously.” He further commented: “These are serious allegations, and it is absolutely right that we investigate them and support those involved.” Essex Police has appealed for anyone possessing information pertinent to the inquiries to come forward. The officer is presently suspended from duty, and the case has been forwarded to the Independent Office of Police Conduct.
