A new five-year agreement has been confirmed, ensuring the Women’s Super League (WSL) will continue to be broadcast by the BBC. This deal, which extends until 2030, means that top-tier matches will remain available on BBC television and iPlayer, with selected match commentaries also featured on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds. Following the confirmation, Director of BBC Sport Alex Kay-Jelski stated, “it’s brilliant to be able to continue bringing the WSL to audiences.” Kay-Jelski further expressed his enthusiasm for the league’s expansion, remarking, “It’s great to see the WSL growing and growing and I’m delighted that the BBC are carrying on as a partner on that journey.” He highlighted the benefits for supporters, adding, “There are so many great players, matches and stories each season and this deal allows fans to enjoy them for free wherever they are, whether it’s clips on website, iPlayer and social media or the full 90 minutes on TV, radio and BBC Sounds.” Nikki Doucet, chief executive of Women’s Professional Leagues Limited (WPLL), commented on the significance of the agreement. She noted, “Agreeing the next cycle of broadcast rights was a priority for us and we are very fortunate to have two premium broadcast partners in Sky Sports and the BBC who believe in the future and value of women’s football as much as we do.” Doucet concluded by emphasizing the positive impact of the deal, stating, “The growth of the game is undeniable, and this deal is another step in the right direction and positive news for the fans, the players and the clubs.” Post navigation Daily News Summary: November 11, 2024 Cozier-Duberry’s Impressive Debut Praised by Blackburn Coach
