West Northamptonshire Council has released the definitive list of modifications to town and parish councils within the county. These adjustments are scheduled to be implemented for the upcoming local elections next year and will impact a total of 20 wards. The modifications encompass the reorganization of specific parish wards, an update to the number of councillors assigned to particular areas, and the repositioning of boundaries to accommodate population increases and new developments. Adam Brown, who leads the Conservative-controlled council, expressed that the authority was “incredibly grateful” to the residents who participated in the consultation process, which was instrumental in shaping these alterations. Boundary adjustments have been made following a review involving various villages and towns. Furthermore, a new parish ward has been established in Daventry, leading to the division of Daventry South Town Council into two due to its substantial size, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service. The number of councillors for the parishes of Overstone, Pitsford, Ravensthorpe, Thorpe Mandeville, and West Hunsbury is set to increase ahead of the local elections scheduled for May. Mr Brown remarked: “These changes are about ensuring that local governance remains fit for purpose as our parishes grow and evolve. Throughout this process we have ensured that the wishes of residents came first, and where there wasn’t sufficient support for some initial proposals they have been dropped and the status quo has prevailed.”
