Swansea’s Performance Boosted by Players’ International Progress, Says Williams

Luke Williams contends that Swansea City is benefiting from the advancements made by Ben Cabango and Liam Cullen at the international level. Centre-back Cabango, aged 24, and 25-year-old forward Cullen have been pivotal players for Williams’ Swansea squad this season. The pair have also achieved considerable progress with Wales during the 2024-25 period, both having received substantial playing time from Craig Bellamy after previously being peripheral figures under former manager Rob Page. On Wednesday, Cullen delivered an impressive assist as Swansea established an early lead against Derby County, while Cabango played a crucial role as Williams’ team held on for a 2-1 victory despite a comeback attempt from the Rams. “Ben has very high defensive instincts and he is very motivated to defend the goal for this club,” Williams stated. He added, “I have got do doubt [he is taking confidence from Wales] and I think Liam is in the same situation.” Williams further remarked, “They hopefully are really believing in themselves and enjoying their football. I certainly think their experience with the national team has really developed their game and helped them a lot.”
