An individual has received a prison sentence for fatally strangling his neighbor and taking their Post Office money card. Ian Jupe, aged 58, was discovered deceased at his residence in Mountain Ash Close, Southampton, on May 28. According to police, Tom Ellison, 35, utilized the card to withdraw £480.10, subsequently returning to the flat and initiating phone calls in an attempt to conceal the offense. Ellison was convicted of murder at Southampton Crown Court and sentenced to a minimum term of 17 years and 194 days in prison. Law enforcement officials stated that Mr. Jupe’s death occurred around 07:20 BST due to compression to the neck. Detectives reported that Ellison denied the intentional killing of the victim but conceded that he intended to inflict harm. Police further indicated that following the use of the Post Office card, the defendant went back to the flat and placed calls to Mr. Jupe’s phone. Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Gillooly commented: “I hope that today’s result brings some level of closure to Ian’s family, as they now know that the person responsible for his death has been brought to justice.” In a released statement, Mr. Jupe’s sister expressed: “I miss my brother so much. He was taken away from me and my family through this tragic incident that happened.”I was asked to look after him on my mum’s deathbed and unfortunately that didn’t happen.”” Gavin Sumpter of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) stated: “Tom Ellison murdered Ian Jupe in a despicable act of violence.“Working with our criminal justice partners, the CPS is committed to ensuring that those who exploit and harm the most vulnerable members of our communities are held accountable for their actions.”” Post navigation Police Identify Woman Fatally Struck by Bus Man jailed for ex-partner’s drowning murder
