Following his team’s 1-0 triumph over Larne, Linfield manager David Healy stated that the club is “rebuilding the siege mentality” it once possessed. This effort comes as they aim to reclaim the league title from Larne, who have secured the championship for the last two consecutive seasons. Joel Cooper’s goal secured a significant 1-0 victory for the Blues against their rivals at Inver Park, a result that is uncommon for them at that venue. This win further widened their lead over the pursuing teams at the top of the league standings. This 1-0 success provides Linfield with an eight-point advantage over their closest competitors and establishes a 14-point lead over Tiernan Lynch’s team. Speaking to BBC Sport NI, Healy remarked, “We’re still in the process of trying to build a siege mentality. We had that a number of years ago when we were winning title after title and you sort of have that in and around the dressing room.” He added, “You can’t build that overnight but the process is underway.” Healy attributed his team’s achievement on Saturday evening to “hard work.” “It’s a really tough place to come so to leave here with a win and three points is pleasing,” he commented. He further praised, “Credit to the players, to a man I thought they went about their work very well.” Healy concluded, “I could go through one to 11 individually and praise the roles that they all played and the collective outcome.”
