Councillors have granted approval for proposals to construct more than 500 residences in Lichfield. The development, situated at Cricket Lane, will allocate over one-third of its units to affordable housing. Additionally, the scheme will incorporate two play areas, two football pitches, a pavilion, and a bus route featuring two new bus stops. The application’s agent stated that the residential estate is designed to feature two distinct zones, described as “village” and “traditional.” Furthermore, the proposal includes the integration of pedestrian and cycle routes throughout the site, along with connections to an existing canal towpath. The Home Builders Federation projected that the project would generate 1,800 employment opportunities for individuals in the local area. Despite some councillors expressing reservations concerning the number of available parking spaces near the sports pitches, the plans received unanimous endorsement.
