A mother reports incurring a £100 loss due to delays in receiving branded school uniform supplies. Bethany Hall, 24, from Daventry, Northamptonshire, purchased over £250 worth of clothing for her two daughters from Rascals Uniform in early August, but has only received items valued at “around £50 worth” of the total order. These delays compelled Ms Hall to acquire unbranded uniforms to ensure her children were appropriately dressed for the new school term. Ms Hall expressed her frustration, stating, “It’s hard as a mum and I left myself short [by ordering the extra clothes] because they needed them. I’m appalled by it.” She indicated that she visited the store to request a refund, as her children had since outgrown the sizes of the initial order. However, upon her visit, Ms Hall was informed that the card machine was not operational, and the balance would be transferred to her via bank at a later date. Other parents in the vicinity have informed the BBC of similar difficulties with Rascals Uniform. James Wright, 37, from Daventry, is still awaiting a fleece for his six-year-old daughter, which he ordered in July, and has also requested a refund from the store. He commented, “We asked for a refund two or three weeks ago [in person] and haven’t received it.” He added, “Technically that’s theft. “£16 is a small amount, but it’s the principle. It’s very frustrating.” Gwen Whithall from Braunston stated she attempted to contact Rascals Uniform four times regarding her unfulfilled order but received no response. She remarked, “I’ve had to order [the uniforms] from a different shop and luckily my bank got my money back.” She further noted, “But I haven’t had any acknowledgement of what’s happened to my order [from Rascal Uniform] and I still haven’t heard anything from them.” The situation has even prompted a local school to change its uniform supplier. An anonymous teacher reported receiving “multiple complaints from parents.” In a statement, Rascals Uniform affirmed: “We always offer a refund to customers if they are not pleased with service and do fulfil our refunds. “We understand our customer service has been extremely poor and are trying our best to improve where we can.” The BBC provides Northamptonshire news updates on BBC Sounds, Facebook, Instagram, and X.
