The Carabao Cup, originally established in 1960 as the Football League Cup, has seen current titleholders Liverpool drawn against Tottenham in the semi-final stage. Concurrently, Arsenal is set to compete against Newcastle in the other semi-final fixture. Liverpool, currently leading the Premier League and holding a record of 10 victories in this cup competition, will play Spurs at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first leg, with the second leg scheduled to take place at Anfield. For their semi-final encounter, Arsenal will host Newcastle at Emirates Stadium for the initial leg, followed by the second leg at St James’ Park. This draw also presents the intriguing prospect of a north London derby occurring in the competition’s final. Although Spurs and Arsenal have not previously contested a major domestic final, they have competed against each other in the League Cup semi-finals on four occasions: in 1968, 1987, 2007, and 2008. The first legs of the semi-finals are scheduled for the week commencing 6 January 2025, with the second legs taking place in the week beginning 3 February. The final match will be held at Wembley Stadium on 16 March.
