Police have stated that a fire which occurred at a new housing development in County Antrim is being investigated as arson. The incident commenced around 00:15 GMT on Thursday, specifically at Park Road in Mallusk. During this event, two new build houses that were still under construction were intentionally set on fire. Emergency services responded to the location and successfully extinguished the flames. The response included two fire appliances dispatched from Glengormley Fire Station, along with one appliance from Westland Fire Station and another from Whitla Fire Station. A spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service confirmed: “Firefighters used three jets to extinguish the fire and the scene was left with the PSNI.” The spokesperson added: “The incident was dealt with by 02:34 and the fire is believed to have been deliberate ignition.” The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) confirmed that no injuries were sustained and has issued an appeal for any individuals with relevant information to contact them.
