A vicar at a Grantham church is requesting assistance to re-erect a 23ft (7m) Christmas tree that has fallen. Father Stuart Cradduck, the Rector of St Wulfram’s, stated that the tree collapsed after a gust of wind moved through the church. “Luckily, no-one was hurt,” he commented. Issuing an appeal for volunteers, Fr Cradduck further stated: “We need your help to get it back it up.” He indicated that if sufficient volunteers were available to assist in raising the fallen tree, an effort would be made on Thursday at 18:30 GMT. Fr Cradduck expressed concern that without assistance: “I’ve no idea how we are going to get it upright – it’s huge.” St Wulfram’s frequently organizes a Christmas tree festival and an ice skating rink during the holiday period, and there appears to be a recurring pattern of items or individuals falling. In 2015, Fr Cradduck put on skates for the inauguration of the church’s ice rink attraction, only to stumble and fall face-first upon stepping onto the ice. After recovering, he light-heartedly mentioned the potential payment he could receive for footage of his tumble. Several years subsequent to this event, Father Clay Rowntree experienced an identical fall.
