Wychavon District Council is investing £550,000 to establish a new splash pad in Droitwich. The scheme, located at Lido Park, has received approval from councillors, entailing the relocation of the water play area to a site adjacent to the tennis courts. Wychavon District Council stated that construction on the site is scheduled to commence early next year, which will also facilitate expansion plans for the lido. The anticipated opening date for the new splash pad is May 2025. According to a council spokesperson, the existing water play area, which began operation in 2011, is considered “past its best, frequently breaks down and is costly to repair”. The spokesperson added that “Without investment, [it] may be out of action for long periods during the summer or fail completely.” Firms are currently submitting bids for the project, and the council expressed its aim to appoint a company by the end of the current year. The council also noted that the new design is intended to incorporate the heritage of both the park and the town. Similar new water play facilities have already been successfully implemented in Evesham and Pershore. Councillor Beverley Hardman, Wychavon’s Executive Board Member for Boosting Natural Capital, commented: “The new water plays in Evesham and Pershore have proved tremendously popular and I am delighted it is now Droitwich Spa’s turn. “This is just another way we continue to invest in our award-winning parks so residents and visitors can enjoy spending time in them.” Post navigation Sisters Recreate Beach Photo Four Decades On Grantham Vicar Seeks Help After 23ft Christmas Tree Topples
