On Sunday, hundreds of dogs and their owners participated in a swimming event at Penzance’s renowned art deco Jubilee Pool, which hosted its annual dog day to mark the close of its summer season. Organisers described the dog day, which is now in its sixth year, as “super successful,” noting that many dog owners, wearing wetsuits, joined their pets in the seawater lido. Nicola Murdoch, CEO of Jubilee Pool, stated that the event provided a “great finish” to the summer season and was “a real highlight of our event calendar and loved by locals and visitors alike.” She also mentioned that the pool would be accessible two mornings per week throughout the winter season, specifically on Wednesdays and Fridays, while winter maintenance proceeds. Nevertheless, the facility’s geothermal pool is scheduled to remain closed until next Easter, in April 2025, she added. Entry to the pool is complimentary for individuals under 16 years old from the Penzance area, and local adults receive discounted tickets, which are subsidised by Penzance Council, she stated. Mrs Murdoch concluded by saying: “We are also excited to host full moon events and cold dips on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Day.“Our iconic cafe will also remain open.” For updates, follow BBC Cornwall on X, Facebook and Instagram.
