Rivers Primary Academy in Blakenall has introduced a Christmas elf, “Cookie,” who produces daily mischief videos to infuse festive magic for every child in the community. The initiative aims to ensure all children experience the joy of yuletide, irrespective of their home circumstances. Throughout this month, “Cookie” has engaged in various pranks, including “pieing” staff members, riding children’s bikes, and performing silly dances. Additionally, the school staff organized a Lapland day, featuring a visit from Father Christmas in a homemade grotto, accompanied by reindeers from the North Pole. Parents have conveyed their appreciation to the school for providing their children with unique memories. Nicola, a parent with one child attending the school, stated: “It’s been really good especially because my son struggles getting up on a morning, so for him it’s really motivated him to come to school, he loves it. “I feel like its brought a bit of Christmas spirit back with the cost of living and that, it’s stressful at home.” Lucy, another mother with two children enrolled, commented: “It’s just getting them into school so much happier, they’re looking forward to it,” adding, “It’s just lovely what the teachers are doing for them.” These videos, which have garnered hundreds of views on social media, are scheduled to continue leading up to Christmas. Sara Webb of Rivers Primary Academy remarked: “All our classrooms have got a Christmas tree, tinsel on the ceilings, everything has been donated by our lovely parents.” She further emphasized: “It’s all about bringing the magic of Christmas to Rivers and all our children.” For updates, follow BBC Birmingham on BBC Sounds, Facebook, X, and Instagram.
