Cardiff lock Teddy Williams, who was absent from the summer tour of Australia due to injury, has now been drafted into the Wales squad for the upcoming autumn internationals. He steps in for Dragons captain Ben Carter, who is sidelined with an injury. Williams, aged 24, has previously earned two international caps and has demonstrated excellent performance for Cardiff during the current season. Carter, 23 years old, sustained a knee injury during a training session following the Welsh squad’s assembly on Monday. Other available options for the lock position include Freddie Thomas, Christ Tshiunza, Will Rowlands, and Adam Beard. Meanwhile, Dafydd Jenkins and Rhys Davies are currently unavailable due to injuries. Wales enters the series having lost their previous nine Test matches. Their autumn campaign is set to commence against Fiji in Cardiff on Sunday, November 10. Warren Gatland’s team will then welcome Australia a week later, followed by a match against the reigning world champions, South Africa, on Saturday, November 23. The Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) has also confirmed that the roof of the Principality Stadium will be closed for all three upcoming autumn matches held in Cardiff. Macs Page, a 19-year-old centre from Scarlets, and Huw Anderson, a 20-year-old full-back from Dragons, have been invited by Gatland to participate in training sessions. However, these two young players are not formally included in the 35-member squad. The forwards selected are: Nicky Smith, Gareth Thomas, Kemsley Mathias, Ryan Elias, Dewi Lake (capt), Evan Lloyd, Henry Thomas, Keiron Assiratti, Archie Griffin, Freddie Thomas, Christ Tshiunza, Teddy Williams, Will Rowlands, Adam Beard, Taine Plumtree, James Botham, Jac Morgan, Tommy Reffell, and Aaron Wainwright. The backs include: Tomos Williams, Rhodri Williams, Ellis Bevan, Sam Costelow, Gareth Anscombe, Ben Thomas, Nick Tompkins, Max Llewellyn, Eddie James, Owen Watkin, Mason Grady, Blair Murray, Rio Dyer, Josh Hathaway, Tom Rogers, and Cameron Winnett.
