An 18-year-old male lost his life when the vehicle he was traveling in as a passenger collided with another car during a police pursuit. The incident, involving a Toyota, took place on Manchester Road in Rochdale. Greater Manchester Police (GMP) reported that the crash occurred after a “short pursuit” by officers who were responding to reports of a stolen car at approximately 21:15 BST on Tuesday. A man in his 20s and a 17-year-old boy have been taken into custody on suspicion of offenses including causing death by dangerous driving and car theft. Subsequent to the collision, the force has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct. Police officers were initially dispatched to the William Greenwood Close area of Heywood, where the Toyota failed to stop. Emergency services declared the 18-year-old deceased after the vehicle accelerated away and subsequently collided with a Volkswagen, the force stated.
