New proposals indicate that the previous main office of Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service might be razed to make way for a rehabilitation facility aimed at assisting individuals with addictions. Documents detailing these plans have been lodged, outlining the transformation of the currently unoccupied plot on Bestwood Lodge Drive, Arnold, into a complex featuring 32 bedrooms. The structures, which have stood vacant for a period of two years, are slated for demolition to facilitate the construction of the clinic. Delamere Health, the developer, stated that the establishment is intended to aid individuals in their recovery from issues related to drug and alcohol dependency, as well as mental health conditions. According to planning documentation, the site’s development could include amenities such as a gymnasium, a cinema, a spa, massage rooms, and a leisure room. The developer reported having provided support to approximately 1,000 individuals since the launch of its initial £7 million clinic in Cheshire in 2020. The application also indicates the potential planting of over 200 trees, alongside the creation of a therapy garden. It was confirmed by the fire service in 2019 that it would co-locate its headquarters with Nottinghamshire Police’s Sherwood Lodge facility, following an £18.5 million refurbishment project. While vehicular access will remain via Bestwood Lodge Drive, certain enhancements for pedestrians are planned. The playing fields, previously part of the fire service’s property, are excluded from the application that was presented to Gedling Borough Council in October.
