A mother has stated that her 13-year-old son’s life was in peril following an assault by an unknown individual. The attack, which occurred in an alleyway adjacent to Gino’s takeaway in Anlaby at approximately 20:30 GMT on Sunday, left the boy with severe injuries to his face and neck. Natalie, aged 38, recounted that medical professionals informed her a laceration to her son’s neck narrowly avoided his jugular artery by 0.4 inches (1 cm), and had it been severed, he “would have died instantly.” Detective Inspector Andy Crawforth verified that law enforcement officers are probing the event, remarking: “This is an awful set of circumstances that have left a young boy with serious injuries.” Natalie, detailing the occurrence, stated that an individual yelled at her son as he was walking with companions after visiting a takeaway establishment. Subsequently, he was struck on the head, which caused him to drop his food, according to her account. Her son then fled to a friend’s residence “with blood pouring everywhere”. Natalie subsequently received a phone call from the friend’s mother, who explained the events. She further stated that broken glass was embedded in his neck. Natalie described her son’s condition, saying: “He was in massive shock. He is in a lot of pain, keeps having flashbacks and doesn’t want to go out of the house.” Humberside Police issued a statement, confirming: “Inquiries are ongoing after officers were called to reports of a boy being assaulted after leaving a takeaway on Hull Road, in Anlaby, at around 20:40 GMT on Sunday 27 October.” The statement continued: “It is reported that a 13-year-old boy was walking with a friend and was approached by two teenage boys and two teenage girls who are not known to them.” It added: “After attempting to engage with the 13-year-old boy and his friend, the boy was struck with a glass bong and sustained wounds to his face and neck.” Detective Inspector Crawforth appealed to anyone possessing information regarding the assault to contact the police.
