Midfielder Josh Brownhill, who joined Burnley in January 2020, is hoped by manager Scott Parker to be available for the team’s upcoming Saturday match against Stoke. The Clarets, currently trailing the top spot by two points, are heading to the Bet365 Stadium following a streak of three consecutive victories and four clean sheets. Brownhill, the team’s leading scorer with five goals, had participated in every minute of 15 Championship fixtures until Saturday’s triumph against his previous club, Bristol City. During that game, he exited the field after 84 minutes due to what appeared to be an injury. Consequently, he was absent from Tuesday night’s victory against Coventry at Turf Moor, where Josh Laurent filled his position in the midfield. Parker stated on the club website, external: “Josh trained on the grass today. After the weekend’s game it probably came a little too early to play him on Tuesday. “He has progressed well, but we will see where we are on Friday and make a call on that.” He further added: “There’s good signs with a few of the lads, Joe Worrall, Lyle Foster and Hannes Delcroix are all progressing nicely and have been out on the grass.” Parker concluded: “It’s just about getting game time now, which is key for them. Getting minutes for the 21s and then building that back up to match fitness.”
