Northampton Saints’ prop, Elliot Millar Mills, who participated in last season’s Premiership final, has committed to a new contract, ensuring his continued presence at the club past the current season. The 32-year-old has played 26 matches for the current Premiership champions since his arrival 18 months ago, following a short period with Edinburgh. Despite being born in Stockport, he plays internationally for Scotland, having earned five caps since his first appearance in the Six Nations this year. Speaking to the Saints website, Millar Mills stated, “As a group I believe we’re in a better position than we were at this point last season – we’ve got a very special group here and we feel like we can achieve anything.” Millar Mills commenced his professional career with Yorkshire Carnegie, subsequently having an initial stint at Edinburgh and spending three years with Ealing Trailfinders. His entry into the Premiership occurred when he joined Wasps in 2021; however, he became clubless the subsequent year after the team ceased operations. Director of rugby Phil Dowson commented, “His story is unique; after what happened at Wasps, he bounced around and played with the Barbarians, Bath and Edinburgh.” Dowson added, “To then find a home with us, where he felt comfortable to be himself and felt comfortable to put those performances out on the pitch, shows his character.” He further stated, “We’ll keep pushing him to achieve more and, as with everyone in our squad, I want to make sure we get the absolute best out of him.”
