An individual who previously served as a housemaster and science teacher at a boarding school has received a prison sentence for the sexual abuse of a student that occurred during the 1980s. According to Kent Police, Simon Montgomery leveraged his role to repeatedly assault a young boy who was under his supervision while he was employed at what was then known as Dulwich College Preparatory School in Cranbrook, Kent. Mr. Montgomery, residing at Littlefield Road, Rainham, faced charges for two counts of indecent assault, one count of gross indecency with a child, and one count of making indecent images of a child. He admitted guilt to all these charges. The 70-year-old individual received a sentence of three years and four months at Maidstone Crown Court. Kent Police stated that Montgomery initiated the grooming process with his victim by telling him to remain after lessons and subsequently displaying explicit magazines. The police force further indicated that these actions escalated into multiple occurrences of sexual abuse, taking place both within the classroom and at an adjacent sports facility. Authorities reported that the allegations were brought to their attention in December 2022, leading to Montgomery’s arrest. During interviews, he confessed to officers, confirming the victim’s name proactively, as police noted. Detective Constable Emma Coghlan commented: “Sex offenders like him wreak incalculable damage on their victims, many who will suffer in silence for years, or throughout their whole lives.”
