Guinea international midfielder Naby Keita is scheduled to depart Werder Bremen to join Hungarian club Ferencvaros on a loan agreement commencing in January. Keita previously scored 11 goals across 129 appearances for Liverpool. The 29-year-old player has been absent from Bremen’s lineup since April, following his suspension for declining to travel with the German squad for a match against Bayer Leverkusen. Clemens Fritz, Werder Bremen’s managing director for sport, commented, “We are pleased to have found a solution, together with Naby and his agent. For us, it was clear that Naby would not play for Werder again. As such, the loan deal is the right move both for us and for him. We wish Naby all the best in Hungary.” During his five seasons with Liverpool, Keita contributed to the Reds’ victories in the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, and Club World Cup. He departed Liverpool to sign with Werder Bremen on a free transfer in June 2023, yet he only featured in five league matches for the Bundesliga team, with a single start among them. Ferencvaros indicated that the agreement for Keita incorporates an option for a permanent transfer.
