Chris Smiley, hailing from Northern Ireland, is set to compete in the British Touring Car Championship again in 2025, piloting a Hyundai i30 N for Restart Racing. Following a two-year absence from the BTCC, during which he claimed the TCR UK title, Smiley rejoined the championship in 2024, achieving two Independent victories behind the wheel of a Cupra Leon. For the 2025 season, Restart Racing will transition to a Hyundai i30 Fastback N, a vehicle that Smiley, 32, previously raced for Excelr8 Racing in both 2020 and 2021. Smiley, who boasts one overall race victory and six podium finishes in the BTCC, expressed his confidence in the vehicle. He stated, “I’m fully aware of what this i30 package can deliver. It’s a proven race-winning car, and with the right team and preparation, we’re aiming to climb as far up the grid as we can. I’m thrilled to be back with Restart Racing and can’t wait to get started.” The upcoming 2025 BTCC season is scheduled to feature 30 races over 10 rounds, commencing at Donington Park on April 26-27.
