Organisers in Guernsey have confirmed that the island’s Christmas parade and the activation of its festive lights are scheduled for November 30. The celebrations are set to commence at 15:40 GMT at the Model Yacht Pond in St Peter Port, with the procession concluding at the Market Square by 16:45, at which point the lights will be illuminated. This occasion signifies the commencement of the late-night shopping period in Guernsey, during which local businesses will extend their opening hours on December 5, 12, 19, and 22. Jax Robin, representing the St Peter Port Christmas Lights group, described the illumination of the Christmas lights as a joyful event for the island community. She stated, “The light switch-on marks the beginning of Christmas for us and is the result of a great deal of work behind the scenes.” Following the lights’ activation, the parade is slated to proceed through the Arcade, onto the High Street, and then along the Pollet. Additionally, a special letterbox will be made available at the Guille-Allè€s Library starting November 20, enabling children to send correspondence to Santa.
