A video depicting a teenager’s 100 mph police chase has been made public following his receipt of a suspended sentence for dangerous driving. Shane Urwin, an 18-year-old resident of Washington, engaged in hazardous driving on 20 August, which involved operating a vehicle on the wrong side of the road, failing to stop at red lights, and crashing through roadworks inside the Tyne Tunnel in an attempt to elude law enforcement officers. Other vehicles, including large lorries, were forced to take evasive action as he drove in their direction. He received a sentence of one year’s detention, suspended for two years, in addition to 200 hours of unpaid community service.
