The Christmas tree situated in a town square is scheduled for replacement, following an admission by the supplying estate that it “did not meet everybody’s expectations.” Numerous individuals voiced dissatisfaction on social media regarding the diminished size of what is typically the focal point of Alnwick’s Christmas lights display. Northumberland Estates, the annual donor of a tree to the town, announced it has “sourced an alternative” tree, which is slated for installation on Sunday. Gordon Castle, president of the Alnwick Christmas Lights Committee, stated: “We don’t specify a size and we are very grateful to the Duke of Northumberland.” Alnwick’s festive illuminations and Christmas tree are erected by a volunteer group, who dedicate six months each year to preparing the town’s display. Mr Castle commented: “There were a lot of comments on social media with people suggesting it was rather small.” He added: “We have already decorated the tree but I do recognised this year’s tree was perhaps not as full as those in previous years.” He further explained: “We will have to take the decorations off the old one and then redecorate the new one once it goes up on Sunday.” Northumberland Estates provides 70 trees to various recipients, including schools, churches, local organisations, and the town of Alnwick. In an official statement, the Estates declared: “We are proud to work alongside the Alnwick Lights Committee and its dedicated volunteers to help celebrate the town’s festive spirit.” The statement continued: “We are committed to ensuring the community takes pride in the display and, as such, we have rehomed the original tree and sourced an alternative, which we hope will better capture the town’s festive spirit.” Post navigation Community Ensures Continuation of Half-Century-Old Fireworks Display West Midlands-Inspired Scented Candles Created by Local Couple
